Fuel Pump Relay

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda B4000, 2003 Mazda B3000, and 2003 Mazda B2300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove fuel pump relay from under-hood fuse/relay box. Check relay continuity. Continuity should be present between relay terminals No. 1 and 2, and between relay terminals No. 3 and 4. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Continuity should not be present between relay terminals No. 3 and 5. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace fuel pump relay.
  2. Using a fused jumper wire, apply battery voltage to fuel pump relay terminal No. 1. Using a second fused jumper wire, ground relay terminal No. 2. Continuity should now be present between relay terminals No. 3 and 5. If continuity is not present, replace relay. If continuity is present, fuel pump relay is okay at this time.
