Fuel Filler Pipe Removal / Installation

WARNING:
  • Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
WARNING:
  • Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before repairing or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, causing personal injury or a fire hazard.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .
  3. Remove the three fuel tank filler pipe screws.

    Tightening torque: 2 Nm {18 in-lbi} 

  4. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe ground strap and bolt from the frame.

  5. Disconnect the fuel tank filler vent hose quick connect fitting at the fuel pump.

  6. Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe hose clamp. Remove the hose from the fuel tank and remove the fuel tank filler pipe assembly from the vehicle.

  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
