DTC P0140, P0160: Notes
DTC P0140, P0160 [AJ] DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSES
DTC P0140 DTC P0160 |
HO2S (RR) circuit no activity detected HO2S (LR) circuit no activity detected |
| DETECTION CONDITION |
- The PCM monitors the input voltage from the HO2S (RR, LR) when the following monitoring conditions are met. If the input voltage never exceeds 0.55 V
through the short fuel trim is controlled up to 25%
for 9.6 s
, the PCM determines that the sensor circuit is not activated.
MONITORING CONDITIONS
- Drive mode 3
- The following conditions are to be met for 32 s
:
- The engine speed is 1,500 RPM or above
.
- The engine coolant temperature is 70 °C {158 °F} or above
.
- HO2S (RR, LR) voltage is above 0.1 V
Diagnostic support note
- This is an intermittent monitor (HO2S).
- MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
- PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
- FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
- DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

| POSSIBLE CAUSE |
- HO2S (RR, LR) deterioration
- HO2S heater (RR, LR) malfunction
- Leakage exhaust system
- Open or short circuit to ground circuit between HO2S (RR, LR) terminal and PCM terminal
- For P0140: HO2S (RR) terminal A and PCM terminal 2AG
- For P0160: HO2S (LR) terminal A and PCM terminal 2AH
- Insufficient compression
- Engine malfunction
- PCM malfunction
