Pcm Quick Test

PCM QUICK TEST REFERENCE

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 RECORD CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA (FFD)
  • Connect WDS or equivalent tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  • Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO).
  • Retrieve all stored DTCs.
  • Are any DTCs present? 
Yes Record all stored DTCs (Continuous Memory DTC) and Freeze Frame Data (FFD) on repair order.
Go to next step.
No Go to next step.
2 VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
  • Check for related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability.
  • Is any related repair information available? 
Yes Perform repair or diagnosis according to available repair information.
If vehicle is not repaired, go to next step.
No Go to next step.
3 PERFORM KEY ON, ENGINE OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST
  • Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
  • Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO).
  • Turn off all electrical loads.
  • Activate KOEO On Demand Self-Test using WDS or equivalent tester Diagnostic Test Modes.
  • Are any KOEO DTCs (except P1000) present? 
Yes Repair KOEO DTC.
Go to applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
No Go to next step.
4 PERFORM KEY ON, ENGINE RUNNING (KOER) SELF-TEST
  • Key ON, Engine Running (KOER).
  • Activate KOER On Demand Self-Test using WDS or equivalent tester Diagnostic Test Modes.
  • Are any KOER DTCs (except P1000) present? 
Yes Repair KOER DTC.
Go to applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)
No If Continuous Memory DTC was present at step 1, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
If Continuous Memory DTC was not present at step 1, go to symptom troubleshooting. SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - ENGINE .
