IDENTIFYING SYNCHRONIZERS GEAR COMPONENTS

1	Synchronizer spring
2	Synchronizer spring
3	Synchronizer keys (3 required)
4	Synchronizer shift ring and hub assembly

NOTE:

• First and Second gear synchronizer shown; other synchronizers are similar.

NOTE:

• Prior to disassembly, note the position of the index marks.

1. Disassemble the synchronizer assembly.
   1. Remove the synchronizer blocking springs.
   2. Remove the synchronizer hub inserts.
   3. Separate the synchronizer hub from the sleeve.

2. Inspect the synchronizer shift ring and hub for damage. Make sure that they move freely.
