MULTIFUNCTION Switch Inspection

  1. Remove the multifunction switch. See MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH  .
  2. Inspect for continuity between the multifunction switch terminals using an ohmmeter.

    Inspection 

    MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH INSPECTION REFERENCE

    Circuit to test Connect self-powered test light or ohmmeter to terminals Move switch to these positions A good switch will indicate
    High beam 6 and 7 High beam Closed circuit
    Flash-to-pass Open circuit
    Low beam Open circuit
    Low beam/flash-to-pass 8 and 9 High beam Open circuit
    Flash-to-pass Closed circuit
    Low beam Closed circuit
     
    8 and 9
    High beam Open circuit
    Flash-to-pass Closed circuit
    Low beam Open circuit

    Inspection 

    TURN SIGNAL PORTION INSPECTION REFERENCE

    Circuit to test Connect self-powered test light or ohmmeter to terminals Move switch to these positions A good switch will indicate
    Turn signal 0918-105 pin 2 and 0918-104 pin 10 Left turn Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 2 and 0918-104 pin 9 Left turn Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 3 and 0918-104 pin 10 Left turn Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 3 and 0918-104 pin 9 Left turn Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 2 and 0918-104 pin 7 Right turn Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 2 and 0918-104 pin 8 Right turn Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 3 and 0918-104 pin 8 Right turn Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 3 and 0918-104 pin 7 Right turn Closed circuit
    Hazard 0918-105 pin 3 and 0918-104 pin 10 Turn signal in neutral, hazard on Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 3 and 0918-104 pin 7
    0918-105 pin 3 and 0918-104 pin 9
    0918-105 pin 3 and 0918-104 pin 8
    0918-105 pin 1 and 0918-104 pin 10 Turn signal in neutral, hazard off Closed circuit
    0918-105 pin 1 and 0918-104 pin 8

    Inspection 

    WIPER/WASHER PORTION INSPECTION REFERENCE

    Circuit to test Connect self-powered test light or ohmmeter to terminals Move switch to these positions A good switch will indicate
    Front washer switch circuit 5 and 6 Front washer Closed circuit
    Off Open circuit
    Front wiper switch circuit 1 and 6 Off Open circuit
    Low Closed circuit
    High
    4 and 6 Off Open circuit
    Low
    High Closed circuit
    2 and 6 Off Open circuit
    Low Closed circuit
    High
    Intermittent wiper circuit, front 1 and 6 Interval 1 Closed circuit
    Interval 2
    Interval 3 Open circuit
    Interval 4
    Interval 5
    3 and 6 Interval 1 Open circuit
    Interval 2 Closed circuit
    Interval 3
    Interval 4
    Interval 5 Open circuit
    2 and 6 Interval 1 Open circuit
    Interval 2
    Interval 3
    Interval 4 Closed circuit
    Interval 5
  3. If not as specified, replace the multifunction switch.
