PINPOINT TEST 5: CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR IS OFF WITH IGNITION SWITCH

PINPOINT TEST 5		THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR IS OFF WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE RUN POSITION AND THE ENGINE OFF
STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	CHECK THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR OPERATION Connect the diagnostic tool. Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO). Using Active Commands, turn on the charging system warning indicator in the instrument cluster. Is the charging system warning indicator on?	Yes	Go to next step.
1		No	See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART -- INSTRUMENT CLUSTER to diagnose the generator warning indicator.
2	CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION Key OFF. Disconnect all the PCM connectors. Check for corrosion pushed-out pins Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present?	Yes	INSTALL a new PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) for the removal and installation procedure. REPEAT the PCM self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
2		No	The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
