Steering Column: Removal
- Remove the steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL .
- Remove the upper steering column shroud.
- Remove the lower steering column shroud
- Apply two strips of tape across the air bag sliding contact to prevent accidental rotation when the air bag sliding contact is removed.
- Remove the air bag sliding contact.
- Remove the screws.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the multifunction switch and headlamp switch electrical connector.
- Disconnect the wiring harness.
- If equipped, disconnect the selector lever shift cable from the selector lever and bracket.
- Disconnect the passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver module electrical connector and pin-type retainer.
- Remove the trim panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Position the boot aside.
- Remove and discard the pinch bolt/nut and disconnect the steering column shaft from the flexible coupling.
- Remove the steering column support bolt.
- Loosen the nuts and remove the steering column.
