Plenum Chamber Removal/Installation

  1. Remove the instrument panel; see INSTRUMENT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
  2. Drain the radiator; see ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 2.3L , ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 3.0L , or ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 4.0L .
  3. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater/evaporator core.
  4. Remove the heater/evaporator core housing; See EVAPORATOR CORE HOUSING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the nuts.

    Tightening torque 

    3.4-4.8 N.m {35 - 49 kgf.cm, 31-42 in.lbf}. 

  6. Remove the plenum chamber.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Lubricate the coolant hoses with coolant hose lubricant or plain water if needed.
