Starter Motor Removal/Installation - 4.0L

WARNING:
  • When carrying out maintenance on the starting system be aware that heavy gauge leads are connected directly to the battery. Make sure protective caps are in place when maintenance is completed.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise vehicle and support with safety stands.
  3. Remove the starter motor solenoid terminal cover.

  4. Disconnect the starter wires.
  5. Remove the nut and the starter ground cable.

  6. Remove the bolt, the stud and the starter motor.

  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
