Rear Safety Belt Retractor: Installation

Both Rear Safety Belt Retractors

1. Install the rear safety belt retractor.
   1. Position the rear safety belt retractor to the C-pillar.
   2. Using the special tool, install the bolt.

   LH Side Only

2. Position the rear quarter trim panel.
   • If equipped, connect the power point electrical connector.

   Both Retractors

   NOTE:

   • Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
3. Install the quarter trim panel.
   1. Position the quarter trim panel and feed the safety belt webbing through the opening.
   2. Align the quarter trim panel and push in, fastening the retainers.

      All Vehicles

   3. Install the cargo cover hold down.

   4. Install the cargo cover.

   5. Install the rear hatch scuff plate.

   6. Install the rear hatch weatherstripping.

   7. Install the spacer onto the rear safety belt guide bolt.

      NOTE:

      • Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
   8. Install the rear safety belt guide.
      1. Position the safety belt guide.
      2. Using the special tool, install the bolt.

      NOTE:

      • If the safety belt guide cover is damaged or if it does not remain in position, install a new cover.
   9. Install the rear safety belt guide cover.

   10. Raise the second row seat backrest.

       NOTE:

       • Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
   11. Install the safety belt anchor.
       1. Position the safety belt anchor.
       2. Using the special tool, install the bolt.

   12. Install the C-pillar weatherstripping.

   13. Install the rear door scuff plate.
       1. Position the rear door scuff plate.
       2. Install the two pin-type retainers (one shown).
       3. Close the cover.

   14. Position the seat cushion down.

       Vehicles With A Rear Power Point 

   15. Connect the battery ground cable. .

       All Vehicles 

   16. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
   1. Make sure that after the rear safety belt retractor is installed, the retractor is not in the Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode.
   2. Ensure the new retractor operates correctly.
