Tappet And Adjustment Shim Removal/Installation: Notes

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the timing belt. (See TIMING BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  .)
  3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  5. Inspect the air gap between the crankshaft position sensor.
  6. Inspect the engine oil level.
  7. Start the engine, and inspect the following and adjust if necessary:
    • Pulley and belt for runout or contact
    • Engine oil and engine coolant for leakage
    • Ignition timing
    • Operation of auxiliary parts
