Removal & Installation (MPV)
WARNING:
Fuel line spills and leakage are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, do not damage the sealing surface of the fuel pump unit when removing or installing.
CAUTION:
Disconnecting/connecting the quick release connector without cleaning it may possibly cause damage to the fuel pipe and quick release connector. See DISCONNECT under FUEL LINE CONNECTORS (MAZDA6, MPV, PROTEGE & PROTEGE5). Always clean the quick release connector joint area before disconnecting/connecting using a cloth or soft brush, and make sure that it is free of foreign material.
- Relieve system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the front seats.
- Remove the front scuff plates.
- Remove the rear scuff plates.
- Remove the console lower cover.
- Loosen the parking brake lever installation bolts.
- Partially peel back the floor covering until the service hole cover appears.
- Remove in the order indicated in the illustration. See Fig 1.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
