Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Record freeze frame data. Check for service bulletins and on-line information. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to next step.
  2. Inspect PCM Connector Terminal -  Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 104-pin harness connector. Check for damaged, loose or corroded terminals. If problem is not present, go to next step. If problem is present, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  7.
  3. Inspect Knock Sensor Circuits For Open -  Disconnect KS. Check continuity in Blue/White wire between KS harness connector terminal "A" and PCM 104-pin harness connector terminal No. 57. Check continuity in Red/White wire between KS harness connector terminal "B" and PCM 104-pin harness connector terminal No. 4. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open in appropriate wire. See appropriate wiring diagram under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in WIRING DIAGRAMS. After repair, go to step  7.
  4. Inspect Knock Sensor Circuits For Short To Ground -  Check for continuity between ground and KS harness connector terminal "A" (Blue/White wire) and between ground and KS harness connector terminal "B" (Red/White wire). If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short to ground in appropriate wire. After repair, go to step  7.
  5. Check For Short Circuits -  Check for continuity between KS harness connector terminals. If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short between circuits. After repair, go to step  7.
  6. Check Knock Sensor Resistance -  Check resistance between KS terminals "A" and "B". If resistance is about 560,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not about 560,000 ohms, replace KS. After repair, go to next step.
  7. Verify Trouble Shooting Of DTC P0327 Completed -  Reconnect all components. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using scan tool, clear DTC. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine. Recheck DTCs. If DTC P0327 is present, replace PCM. After repair, go to next step. If DTC P0327 is not present, go to next step.
  8. Verify After Repair Procedure -  Using scan tool, perform After Repair Procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE . If no other DTCs are present, testing is complete. If any other DTC is present, go to applicable test and repair.
