Oil Pressure Inspection
WARNING:
- Continuous exposure with USED engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water immediately after this work.
- Hot engines and the engine oil can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it and the engine oil have cooled.
- Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
- Remove the A/C compressor with the pipe still connected. Position the A/C compressor so that it is out of the way.
- Remove the oil pressure switch.
- Screw the SSTs into the oil pressure switch installation hole.
- Install the A/C compressor.
- Install the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
- Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
- Run the engine at the specified speed, and note the gauge readings.
- If the pressure is not as specified, inspect for the cause and repair or replace as necessary.
NOTE:- The oil pressure can vary with oil viscosity and temperature.
Oil pressure (approximate quantity)
138-310 kPa {1.40-3.17 kgf/cm 2 , 20-45 psi} [1,500 rpm]
- Stop the engine and wait until it is cool.
- Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
- Remove the A/C compressor with the pipe still connected. Position the A/C compressor so that it is out of the way.
- Remove the SSTs.
- Apply silicone sealant to the oil pressure switch threads as shown.
- Install the oil pressure switch.
Tightening torque
12-16 N.m {1.2-1.7 kgf.m, 9-12 ft.lbf}
- Install the A/C compressor.
- Install the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
- Start the engine and inspect for oil leakage.
