- Place gear selector in Park. Ensure parking brake is engaged and brake pedal is released. While holding cruise control OFF button, turn ignition switch to RUN position. Cruise control indicator on instrument cluster should flash once to indicate successful entry into self-diagnostic mode. If cruise control indicator does not flash, repeat this step. If cruise control indicator still does not flash, repair cruise control light.
- Release cruise control OFF button. Within 5 seconds of entering self-diagnostic mode, press cruise control ON button. Press remaining cruise control buttons in following sequence: ON, RES, COAST, and SET/ACCEL. As each button is pressed, cruise control indicator will flash. Wait until indicator light goes out before pressing next button.
- After sequence has been completed, indicator light will flash to indicate test passed or failed. See FLASH CODE table. Perform appropriate procedure or SYSTEM TEST as specified. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Immediately after static test has passed, actuator performs a dynamic test by automatically operating throttle .04-.40" (1-10 mm). Observe throttle for any sticking of cable or linkage. Ensure throttle returns properly. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
- If no flash codes exist, repair cruise control system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
