Data Link Diagnostic Test

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), if not already connected. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Select DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. A test will be performed on SCP BUS (circuits 914 and 915) and ISO 9141 (circuit 70) network.
  2. If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, system is okay at this time.
  3. If NGS tester does not display SYSTEM PASSED, perform the following as applicable:

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Does Not Respond To NGS Tester TEST 5 
4-Wheel Drive (4WD) Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester TEST 6 
No Module/Network Communications - ISO 9141 Link TEST 7 
No Module/Network Communication - SCP Link TEST 8 
No Module/Network Communication TEST 9
