Data Link Diagnostic Test

- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), if not already connected. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Select DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. A test will be performed on SCP BUS (circuits 914 and 915) and ISO 9141 (circuit 70) network.
- If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, system is okay at this time.
- If NGS tester does not display SYSTEM PASSED, perform the following as applicable:
- If no response from NGS tester, see TEST 9: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays CKT 70, CKT 914 and/or CKT 915 = SOME ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see TEST 7: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS - ISO 9141 LINK table under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays CKT 914 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see TEST 8: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - SCP LINK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays CKT 915 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see TEST 8: NO MODULE/NETWORK COMMUNICATION - SCP LINK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If module in question is NO RESPONSE ON CKT 914 (BUS +) or NO RESPONSE ON CKT 915 (BUS -), repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
