Extension Housing: Installation

NOTE: Ensure the parking lever actuating rod is correctly seated into the case parking rod guide cup. Verify that the output shaft is locked in the "P" position.
  1. Align the flats of the manual valve inner lever with the flats on the manual control lever shaft. Install the manual valve inner lever and parking lever actuating rod onto the manual control lever shaft.
  2. Clean the extension housing and install new extension housing gasket. See Figure .
  3. Position the extension housing. Install the extension housing screws. See Figure . Install the extension housing studs.
  4. Position the transmission mount on the extension housing. See Figure . Install the transmission mount-to-extension housing bolts and tighten to specification. Install the transmission mount-to-extension housing bolts into the crossmember and tighten the transmission mount-to-extension housing bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
    5. NOTE: Align the driveshaft with the marks made during removal to ensure correct balance.
  5. Align and install the rear driveshaft. See Figure . Tighten driveshaft bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Lower the vehicle. Fill the transmission with appropriate fluid to proper level and check for correct transmission operation. See LUBRICATION  .
