Detection Condition
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set when Powertrain Control Module (PCM) compares actual input signal from Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor with expected input signal from MAF sensor which PCM calculates by engine speed. If mass intake-airflow amount is above 9.88 Ib./Min (74.7 g/sec) for 5 seconds and engine speed is below 2,000 RPM with engine running, PCM determines that detected mass intake-airflow amount is too high. If mass intake-airflow amount is for below 0.70 lob/Min (5.3 g/sec) for 5 seconds and engine speed is above 500 RPM with engine running, PCM determines that detected mass intake-airflow amount is too low. MIL is illuminated when PCM detects malfunction during 2 consecutive drive cycles. Pending codes is available if PCM detects malfunction during first drive cycle. Freeze Frame Data is available and DTC will store in PCM memory.
