Fuel Injector Volume (Miata, Protege, Protege5 & 626 2.0L)

  1. Disconnect battery. Remove fuel rail assembly and injectors from intake manifold. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article.
  2. Using mechanics wire, secure each fuel injector to fuel rail. Disconnect fuel injector connectors. Reconnect fuel lines to fuel rail.
  3. Using Special Service Tool (SST) 49-L018-901, connect battery to each injector in turn. Using a fused jumper wire, connect DLC-1 connector terminals F/P and GND. Turn ignition on for 15 seconds. Measure fuel injector output volume. See FUEL INJECTOR OUTPUT VOLUME SPECIFICATIONS  table. If fuel injector output volumn is not as specified, replace fuel injector.
  4. When all injectors have been checked, remove SST and reinstall all components. Check system for leaks.
