Brake Switch

NOTE: Brake switch terminals "A" and "B" control brakelights. Terminals "C" and "D" control cruise control cancel operation.
  1. Disconnect brake switch harness connector. Check continuity between brake switch terminals "A" and "B". See Fig 1 . With brake pedal depressed, continuity should exist. With brake pedal released, continuity should not exist. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace brake switch.
  2. Check continuity between brake switch terminals "C" and "D". With brake pedal depressed, continuity should not exist. With brake pedal released, continuity should exist. If continuity is as specified, brake switch is okay at this time. If continuity is not as specified, replace brake switch.
