Self-Diagnostic System
The remote keyless entry system utilizes a self-diagnostic system which may store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if a problem exists in the system. DTCs may be retrieved using a New Generation Star (NGS) tester or other OBD-II compliant scan tool to diagnosis system. Before performing any testing, see TROUBLE SHOOTING . If all components are okay, connect NGS tester to DLC located below instrument panel. Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS TEST. If scan tool displays CKT914, CKT915, or CKT170=ALL MODULES NO RESP/NOT EQUIP see appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article to diagnose network concern. If scan tool displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Generic Electronic Module (GEM), perform TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE under SYSTEM TESTS. If scan tool displays SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. If DTCs are retrieved, see GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX table to continue diagnosis. Codes listed in the table are only for testing covered in this article. For complete DTC listing. See appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If no DTCs are retrieved, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
