DTC P0038: Right Rear Ho2S Heater Circuit High: Testing

NOTE: Record freeze frame data. Check for service bulletins and on-line information.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect right rear HO2S. Check connectors for damaged terminals and corrosion. If problem is not present, go to next step. If problem is present, repair as necessary. Go to step  5 .
  2. Check resistance between right rear HO2S connector terminals. If resistance is between 14.2-18.8 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not between 14.2-18.8 ohms, replace right rear HO2S and go to step  5 .
  3. Disconnect PCM connector. PCM is mounted to passenger floor, behind glove box. Check PCM harness connector and PCM terminal No. 95 for damaged terminals and corrosion. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If problem is not present, go to next step. If problem is present, repair as necessary and go to step  5 .
  4. Turn ignition on. Check voltage in Light Green/Black wire between ground and right rear HO2S harness connector terminal "D". If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, repair short to power in Light Green/Black wire between right rear HO2S harness connector terminal "D" and PCM harness connector terminal No. 95. See Figure . Go to next step.
  5. Reconnect all components. Using scan tool, clear DTC. Start engine and allow to reach operating temperature. Check for DTC P0038. If DTC P0038 is not pending, go to next step. If DTC P0038 is pending, replace PCM and go to next step.
  6. Perform after repair procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If no DTC is present, testing is complete. If any DTC is present, go to appropriate test for diagnosis and repair.
