DTC Confirmation Procedure

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . If any DTCs are present, record all DTCs and go to next step. If no DTC is present, go to next step.
  2. Check for related service bulletins. Repair as necessary and go to next step.
  3. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Turn all electrical loads off. Turn engine off. Using scan tool, perform KOEO self-test. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are present, repair as necessary. If no DTCs are present, go to next step.
  4. Start engine. Using scan tool, perform KOER self-test. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . If any DTCs are present, repair as necessary. If no DTCs are present, ensure continuous memory DTCs are not present at beginning of testing procedure. If continuous memory DTCs are present, repair as necessary. If continuous memory DTCs are not present and symptom still persists, go to trouble shooting article. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If continuous memory DTCs are not present and symptom is not present, test is complete.
