Keyless Entry Transmitter & Battery

NOTE: Transmitter battery cannot be properly tested unless it is subjected to a load. Battery temperature must be at least 64°F for 30 minutes before testing.
NOTE: A surge of voltage occurs when transmitter button is first pushed. Because of this surge, depress transmitter button at least 10 times before testing battery.
NOTE: Because transmitter has a built-in power-off function, voltage reading must be taken within .5 seconds after pushing transmitter button the last time.
  1. Remove transmitter back cover. See Figure . After depressing any transmitter button at least 10 times for one second, using DVOM, measure voltage between positive and negative terminals within .5 seconds after pushing button the last time. Go to next step.
  2. If battery voltage is less than 2.7 volts, replace battery and retest transmitter. If voltage is 2.7 volts or more, transfer battery to another transmitter. Retest battery as described in step  1 . Go to next step.
  3. If battery voltage is less than 2.7 volts, replace battery. If voltage is 2.7 volts or more, replace original transmitter.
