DTC P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Malfunction: Condition

DTC is set when vehicle speed signal is less than 1.9 MPH for more than 33 seconds while driving vehicle with engine speed is greater than 2000 RPM . Possible causes are:

• Speedometer sensor malfunction.
• Open or short between ignition switch and instrument cluster.
• Open or short circuit between ground and speedometer.
• Open or short circuit between VSS and speedometer sensor.
• Open or short circuit between VSS and terminal No. 1C on Powertrain Control Module (PCM). See Figure .
