Trouble Shooting

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda Tribute, and 2002 Mazda Tribute. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Verify customer complaint by operating charging system. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Inspect for blown fuses and damaged relays. For fuse and/or relay identification, see Fig 1-Fig 4 . Inspect for loose or corroded connections, damaged wiring harnesses and/or switches. Check for broken or partially broken wire inside insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. Ensure any aftermarket electronic equipment is properly installed. If fault is found, repair as necessary. If no fault is found, perform self-diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .

If problem an not be readily located, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
