Test 4: Remote Anti-Theft Personality (Rap) Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Mazda B4000, 1999 Mazda B3000, and 1999 Mazda B2500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect RAP module 26-pin harness connector (T-410). Inspect RAP module connector and Data Link Connector (DLC) for damage, bent terminals, or corrosion. Repair connectors as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 3 at RAP module harness connector and terminal No. 7 at DLC. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace RAP module and retest system for normal operation.
  3. Disconnect and inspect both halves of 84-pin in-line harness connector (X-201), located behind left corner of instrument panel. Inspect connector for damage, bent terminals, or corrosion. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  4. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 3 at RAP module harness connector and terminal No. 51 at male half of in-line harness connector. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between female half of in-line harness connector and DLC. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between RAP module connector and male half of in-line harness connector. After repair, retest system for normal operation.
