DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

20	A/C ALWAYS ON AND A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY
DESCRIPTION	A/C compressor clutch does not disengage

A/C ALWAYS ON AND A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY INSPECTION

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	PRELIMINARY CHECKS Perform the following preliminary checks: A/C wiring (shorts). A/C and heater controls. A/C system and compressor. Are all checks OK?	Yes	Go to step 2.
1		No	Service as required. Verify symptom no longer exists.
2	CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT A/C CLUTCH WITH A/C OFF A/C and defroster OFF. Disconnect A/C clutch field connector G-166. Connect a multimeter between the power pin (GY/W) and ground pin (B) at the A/C clutch field connector G-166. Start engine. Monitor voltage. After testing, turn key OFF and reconnect A/C clutch field connector G-166. Was voltage less than 2.0 volts?	Yes	The electrical portion of the A/C system is not at fault. See TROUBLE SHOOTING in A/C-HEATER SYSTEM article in HVAC for further diagnosis
2		No	A fault is indicated in the A/C electrical system. Go to step 3.
3	CHECK ACCS INPUT TO PCM WITH A/C OFF Key OFF. Connect NGS Tester. Start engine. A/C and defrost off. Access ACCS PID. Is ACCS PID "OFF"?	Yes	Go to step 4.
3		No	Key OFF. Go to step 2 of See A/C CLUTCH RELAY (ACCR) MALFUNCTION step 6.
4	PERFORM KOEO SELF TEST AND RETRIEVE ANY CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTCs Are any DTCs displayed during Continuous Memory or Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO) Self Tests?	Yes	Check for cause. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE NUMBERS .
4		No	Go to step 5.
5	Verify test results. If OK, See DIAGNOSTIC INDEX to service any additional symptoms
