Battery Drain Test

  1. Shut all doors and turn off all accessories. Disconnect negative battery cable. Connect an in-line ammeter between negative battery terminal and negative battery cable. Amperage draw should not exceed .05 amp.
  2. If draw is excessive, ensure glove box light, luggage compartment light, or hood light is not causing draw. Pull instrument panel fuse box fuses, one at a time, until amperage draw reduces. If drain cannot be located, pull engine compartment fuses until draw reduces. Check component(s) and circuit in question.
