Test No. 8

  1. Turn ignition switch on. Measure voltage at terminal "D" (Blue wire) of wiper motor connector (backprobe connector). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Blue wire between joint box and wiper motor.
  2. Turn wiper switch on. With wiper/washer switch in LO position, measure voltage at terminal "B" (Blue/Black wire) of wiper motor connector (backprobe connector). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage is present, turn wiper/washer switch off and go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check wiper motor. See appropriate FRONT WIPER MOTOR TEST under COMPONENT TESTS  .
  3. Remove steering column shrouds. Access combination switch connector. With wiper/washer switch in LO position, measure voltage at terminal "K" (Blue/Black wire) of combination switch connector (backprobe connector). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage is present, check wiper/washer switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. If battery voltage is not present, check for open in wiring harness between combination switch and wiper motor. Repair wiring harness as necessary.
