Test No. 1
- Check 20-amp WIPER fuse located in joint box, behind left kick panel. If fuse is blown, replace fuse (repair wiring if necessary). If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. With wiper/washer switch in LO position, measure voltage at terminal "C" (Blue/White wire) of wiper motor connector (backprobe connector). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . With wiper/washer switch in HI position, measure voltage at terminal "A" (Blue/Red wire) of wiper motor connector (backprobe connector). If battery voltage is present at both terminals, check wiper motor. See FRONT WIPER MOTOR TEST under COMPONENT TESTS . If battery voltage is not present at both terminals, go to next step.
- Remove steering column shrouds. Access combination switch connector. Measure voltage at terminal "J" (Blue wire) of combination switch connector (backprobe connector). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Blue wire between joint box and combination switch.
- With wiper/washer switch in LO position, measure voltage at terminal "N" (Blue/White wire) of combination switch connector (backprobe connector). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . With wiper/washer switch in HI position, measure voltage at terminal "L" (Blue/Red wire) of combination switch connector (backprobe connector). If battery voltage is present at both terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present at both terminals, check wiper/washer switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect combination switch connector. Check for continuity between terminal "E" (Black wire) of combination switch connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, check for open in wiring harness between combination switch and wiper motor. Repair wiring harness as necessary. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between combination switch and ground.
