Description & Operation

The charging system consists of a generator/regulator assembly, charge indicator, battery and required circuitry. Charging system uses a fusible link to prevent system damage. Solid-state regulator inside generator is factory-calibrated and cannot be adjusted.

When the ignition is turned on, voltage is applied through the charge indicator circuit "I" to the voltage regulator. The voltage regulator is activated and allows current flow from the battery to the generator field circuit through circuit "A".

When the engine is started, the rotation of the generator creates AC current, which passes through the rectifier assembly, where it is converted to DC current. DC current is supplied to the vehicle's electrical system by the output terminal located on the rear housing.
