Self-Diagnostic System: Static
NOTE:
Ensure cruise control (SPEED CONTROL) indicator bulb is good.
- Ensure gear selector is in Park and parking brake is fully engaged. Press cruise control OFF switch while turning ignition on, with engine off. Ensure engine is not running or does not start. SPEED CONTROL indicator will flash once indicating cruise control servo/amplifier assembly has entered diagnostic mode. Within 3 seconds after indicator flashes and pressing OFF switch, release OFF switch and press remaining cruise control switches in the following sequence.
- ON
- RESUME (RSM)
- COAST
- SET/ACCEL
- If switches are operating properly, indicator will flash after each switch is pressed. Indicator must go out before next switch in sequence is pressed. Ensure switches are pressed in sequence within one second after indicator goes out. After all switches have been pressed, indicator will flash and indicate either a pass or fail static test. Go to next step.
- After testing all cruise control switches, self-test diagnostics will automatically check for proper connection of BOO switch, deactivator switch, VSS, all motor phases, motor clutch, and servo/amplifier assembly internal memory. Repair as necessary. SPEED CONTROL indicator will flash once if the above static tests pass after the 5 switch sequence. If static test passes, go to DYNAMIC TEST . If static test fails, go to next step.
- SPEED CONTROL indicator will not flash if voltage input from any cruise control switch is out of range, or if switches are not pressed in specified sequence or within specified timing. If test was not properly performed, go to step 1) and retest. If static test still does not pass, dynamic test will not be performed and indicator will flash a DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION .
