Function Test

On all models except 2.0L A/T, start engine to supply vacuum to actuator diaphragm. On all models, observe actuator arm when battery voltage is applied across specified terminals of actuator connector. See ACTUATOR FUNCTION TEST table. See Figure and Figure . If actuator arm does not function as specified, replace actuator.

Application Actuator Arm Result
2.0L A/T
Apply 12 Volts To Terminal "A" & Ground Terminals "B", "C" & "D" Pull
Apply 12 Volts To Terminal "A" & Ground Terminals "B" & "C" Hold
Apply 12 Volts To Terminal "A" & Ground Terminal "B" Extend
Disconnect All Voltage & Ground Release
2.0L M/T & 2.5L
Apply 12 Volts To Terminal "B" & Ground Terminals "A", "C" & "D" Pull
Apply 12 Volts To Terminal "B" & Ground Terminals "A" & "D" Hold
Apply 12 Volts To Terminal "B" & Ground Terminal "D" Extend
Disconnect All Voltage & Ground Release
