Power Windows: Description

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See 1983-98 COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

Master window control switch on driver door controls both windows. Right front window control switch on passenger door operates only passenger window. A permanent magnet motor moves each power window up and down. The direction the motor turns depends on polarity of supply voltage which is controlled by the master window control switch or right front window control switch. Driver switch includes One-Touch Control Module to operate One-Touch Driver Window feature. With ignition switch in ON position, voltage is applied to a power windows (30-amp) circuit breaker in the instrument panel fuse block. Power then travels to master window control switch in driver door armrest, One-Touch Control Module in driver door panel, and then to right front window control switch in passenger door armrest.
