System Functional Check

Turn ignition switch to ON or START position. Air bag system warning light on instrument panel should illuminate for approximately 6 seconds and then go out. This indicates that the air bag system is functioning. If air bag warning light responds in any of the following ways, system is malfunctioning:

• Warning light does not illuminate as described
• Warning light stays illuminated for more than 6 seconds
• Warning light illuminates while driving

If warning light indicates system is functioning, check horn operation. If horn does not operate, remove air bag module and check air bag module and horn switch connections.
