Gearshift Linkage

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove center console. Remove boot plate. Place gearshift lever in "P" position. Loosen lock nut on side of gearshift lever. See Fig 1 . Move adjustment lever forward to set transmission in "P" position.
  2. Adjust the lever so clearance between the guide plate and the guide pin with lever in position "P" is as specified. For specifications, see the GEARSHIFT LEVER ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS  table. Also, see Fig 2 . Tighten the rear lock nut to 14-21 ft. lbs. (19-28 N.m).
  3. Place gearshift lever in "N" and "D" positions to ensure clearances are correct. See GEARSHIFT LEVER ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS  table. See Fig 2 . Adjust lever if necessary. Install boot plate, center console, indicator panel, selector sleeve, selector knob and upper panel. Connect negative battery cable.
