Throttle Position Sensor (TPS): Inspection

  1. Disconnect throttle position sensor connector. Connect an ohmmeter to terminals "A" and "B". With throttle valve at idle position, there should be 800-1200 ohms. At wide open throttle, there should be 4000-6000 ohms.
  2. Connect an ohmmeter to terminals "E" and "D". With throttle opening at idle position, there should be 600-900 ohms. At wide open throttle there should be 3400-5100 ohms. See Fig 1 . If resistance is incorrect, replace TPS and retest system.
