THERMO Switches

  1. Turn ignition to OFF position. Remove thermo switches from thermostat housing. See Fig 1 . Suspend switch in container filled with water and heat. See Fig 2 . Connect ohmmeter between terminal connector and switch base.
  2. Check for continuity of No. 1 thermo switch. Switch is normally closed. Continuity should exist at less than 207°F (97°C) and then circuit should open.
  3. Check for continuity of No. 2 thermo switch. Switch is normally open. Continuity should not exist until temperature reaches more than 207°F (97°C).
