Steering Column: Inspection

  1. Check all components for damage or wear. Check steering shaft for bends, damage or sheared plastic pins. Measure length of steering column from top to bottom of splined ends. On 323 and 626, check for proper shaft length of 23.86-23.94" 606-608 mm).
  2. On RX7, check for proper shaft length of 32.08-32.13" 814.9-816.1 mm). On B2200 and B2600, check for proper shaft length of 32.68-32.89" (830.0-835.6 mm). See Figure . Check bearings for excessive play. Replace parts as necessary.
