Steering Columns: Installation
- Aligning marks made during removal, install column with intermediate shaft upper "U" joint over intermediate shaft. Install, but do not tighten, "U" joint clamp bolt.
- On 323, install and tighten hinge bracket nuts. On all models, install shim clips on column upper bracket flanges (if removed). Position upper end of steering column to instrument panel.
- Install upper bracket retaining nuts or bolts. Turn steering wheel lock-to-lock several times to align "U" joint splines. Tighten "U" joint clamp bolt.
- On all except 323, install and tighten lower column mounting bracket bolts. On 323, install instrument panel brace.
- On all models, install air duct, harness connectors and ignition switch. On 626, install angle sensor. Install combination switch, upper and lower column covers and steering wheel.
