Power Steering Pump: Disassembly

  1. Secure pump in soft-jawed vise. Remove nuts and bolts holding the suction line and reservoir tank. Remove reservoir. Remove rear body bolts.
  2. Remove rear body. Remove cam case, cam ring, vanes, pins, snap ring and rotor. Remove drive shaft and bolt connector from housing.
  3. Remove control valve with spring. Discard all "O" rings. Carefully remove shaft seal, if damaged, to avoid damaging pump housing.
