Air By-Pass Solenoid Valve (Turbo)

  1. Disconnect coolant thermo sensor and connect a 2000-ohm resistor to the terminals of thermo sensor connector. Using a voltmeter, connect one probe to Brown/Yellow terminal of air by-pass solenoid valve. Connect other probe to ground. Start and run engine, checking that voltage drops from zero volts to 12 volts after engine has run 17 seconds.
  2. Disconnect air by-pass solenoid valve connector. Using a volt/ohmmeter, attach probes to terminals of air by-pass solenoid valve connector. Check that there is 16.2-19.8 ohms resistance. See Fig 2 . If not, replace air by-pass solenoid valve.
