Valve Timing

  1. Set No. 1 cylinder intake valve clearance to 0.021" with engine cold. Turn crankshaft until valve is about to open. Indicator groove in flange of crankshaft pulley should be opposite center pointer on indicator bracket beneath crankshaft pulley.
  2. After timing has been checked, valve clearance should be reset to specifications. See  Valve Clearance Adjustment  .
