Passive Entry

The passive entry feature unlocks or locks the doors or opens the power liftgate and fuel filler door (if equipped) without having to use a mechanical key blade or the RKE transmitter feature.

With a programmed passive key within 1m (3.28ft) outside a door, touch the lock or unlock sensor on the exterior door handle (the lock/unlock sensors may not detect a hand if thick gloves are worn). The doors lock or unlock depending upon which sensor was touched on the handle. The unlock sensor is located on the inside of the handle and the lock sensor is located on the outside top face of the handle.

With the 2-staged unlock feature enabled, the driver front door passive entry feature unlocks the driver door and fuel filler door (if equipped). With the 2-staged unlock feature disabled, the driver front door passive entry feature unlocks all doors, fuel filler door (if equipped), and liftgate. The passive entry feature always locks all doors, fuel filler door (if equipped), and liftgate when the lock sensor is touched for a half second. The remaining doors' passive entry feature locks or unlocks all doors, fuel filler door (if equipped), and liftgate.

When the BCM detects a lock or unlock sensor is touched on an exterior door handle or the liftgate release button is pressed, it activates the corresponding low frequency antenna in the corresponding exterior door handle and inside the luggage compartment area. The low frequency antenna sends out a signal to the passive key. The low frequency signal activates the passive key and the passive key sends a high frequency signal back to the RTM. The RTM interprets the high frequency signal from the passive key and sends the information to the BCM. If requested action is performed if the BCM detects a programmed passive key.

With a programmed passive key within 1m (3.28ft) of the liftgate, press the release button to release the liftgate.
