Front Camber Adjustment

Adjustment 

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.
  1. Using alignment equipment and the manufacturer's instructions, measure the front camber.. Use the General Equipment: Wheel Alignment System
  2. NOTE: If the front camber is above or below the minimum specification, the camber can be adjusted +/-0.5 degree by replacing the upper arm with an upper arm repair kit.

    Replace the upper arm with the +/-0.5 degree camber upper arm repair kit.

  3. Measure the distance from the center of the hub to the lip of the fender with the vehicle in a level, static ground position (curb height).

  4. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  5. Remove the upper arm. Refer to: Upper Arm (RWD) . Refer to: Upper Arm (AWD) .
  6. Refer the following chart to select appropriate replacement upper arm to adjust the camber.
    Vehicle Side Ball Joint Shift Camber change (degree) Part Description
    RH Inboard (-) 0.5 Inboard Camber Adjustment
    RH Outboard (+) 0.5 Outboard Camber Adjustment
    LH Inboard (-) 0.5 Inboard Camber Adjustment
    LH Outboard (+) 0.5 Outboard Camber Adjustment
  7. Install selected service adjustment upper arm for desired change in camber. Refer to: Upper Arm (RWD) . Refer to: Upper Arm (AWD) .
  8. Use a suitable jack to raise the suspension until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of the fender is equal to the measurement taken during removal (curb height).

  9. Install the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  10. Recheck alignment to verify camber change and adjust front toe if necessary. Refer to: Front Toe Adjustment . Refer to: Front Toe Adjustment - Vehicles With: Adaptive Steering .
