Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

With the ignition ON, the SASM sends messages to the ABS module over the HS-CAN 2. If the ABS module does not receive these messages within a certain time frame, the ABS module sets a DTC. 

PPT J ABS MODULE DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
U0126:87 Lost Communication With Steering Angle Sensor Module: Missing Message This DTC sets in continuous memory and on-demand in the ABS module if any of the SASM messages are missing. This can be due to a SASM failure, a circuit failure on the HS-CAN or an excessive load on the network.
U0428:82 Invalid Data Received From Steering Angle Sensor Module: Value of Signal Protection Calculation Incorrect The SASM sends a rolling counter in the adaptive steering messages sent to the ABS module. This DTC sets if the rolling counter value is incorrect.
U0428:83 Invalid Data Received From Steering Angle Sensor Module: Value of Signal Protection Calculation Incorrect This DTC sets if the calculated and received adaptive steering checksum is incorrect.
