Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The RCM monitors the passenger door and the second row left side impact sensors and circuits for the following faults:

NOTE: The second row left side impact sensor also known as the left C-pillar side impact sensor.
If a fault is detected, the RCM stores DTC B1415:11, B1415:12, B1415:13, B1415:96, B1418:11, B1418:12, B1418:13 or B1418:96 in memory and sends a message to the IPC to illuminate the airbag warning indicator.
The RCM communicates with each impact sensor. If the RCM is unable to communicate with the sensor, a DTC is stored in memory. A CMDTC no operation (failure type: 93) can be set by a short to voltage on the return circuit of the impact sensor.
PPT Z RCM DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
B1415:11 Driver Side Restraints Sensor 2: Circuit Short to Ground Sets when the RCM senses a short to ground from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed circuit, a short to ground from the passenger door side impact sensor feed circuit, a short to voltage from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed circuit that is less than the normal sensor operating voltage, or a short to voltage from the passenger door side impact sensor feed circuit that is less than the normal sensor operating voltage.
B1415:12 Driver Side Restraints Sensor 2: Circuit Short to Battery Sets when the RCM senses a short to voltage from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed or return circuit or from the passenger door side impact sensor feed or return circuit that is greater than the normal sensor operating voltage.
B1415:13 Driver Side Restraints Sensor 2: Circuit Open Sets when the RCM senses an open from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed or return circuit, or a short to voltage from the sensor feed or return circuit that is within a predetermined range from the normal sensor operating voltage.
B1415:96 Driver Side Restraints Sensor 2: Component Internal Failure Sets when the RCM senses a short to ground from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed circuit, a short to ground from the passenger door side impact sensor feed circuit, a short to voltage from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed circuit that is less than the normal sensor operating voltage, or a short to voltage from the passenger door side impact sensor feed circuit that is less than the normal sensor operating voltage.
B1418:11 Passenger Side Restraints Sensor 1: Circuit Short to Ground Sets when the RCM senses a short to ground from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed circuit, a short to ground from the passenger door side impact sensor feed circuit, a short to voltage from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed circuit that is less than the normal sensor operating voltage, or a short to voltage from the passenger door side impact sensor feed circuit that is less than the normal sensor operating voltage.
B1418:12 Passenger Side Restraints Sensor 1: Circuit Short to Battery Sets when the RCM senses a short to voltage from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed or return circuit or from the passenger door side impact sensor feed or return circuit that is greater than the normal sensor operating voltage.
B1418:13 Passenger Side Restraints Sensor 1: Circuit Open Sets when the RCM senses an open from the passenger door side impact sensor feed or return circuit, or a short to voltage from the sensor feed or return circuit that is within a predetermined range from the normal sensor operating voltage.
B1418:96 Passenger Side Restraints Sensor 1: Component Internal Failure Sets when the RCM senses a short to ground from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed circuit, a short to ground from the passenger door side impact sensor feed circuit, a short to voltage from the driver C-pillar side impact sensor feed circuit that is less than the normal sensor operating voltage, or a short to voltage from the passenger door side impact sensor feed circuit that is less than the normal sensor operating voltage.
