Removal And Installation
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
All vehicles
- 1.
Remove the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). Refer to Steering Column Switches .
Vehicles with power column
Vehicles with selector lever
- 4.
Remove the bolt and the selector lever from the steering column.- To install, tighten the bolt to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).
All vehicles
- 5.NOTE: Power column shown, manual column similar.
Detach the wire harness retainers from the steering column and position the wire harness aside.
- 6.WARNING: Do not reuse steering column shaft bolts. This may result in fastener failure and steering column shaft detachment or loss of steering control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).
Remove the bolt and disconnect the upper steering column shaft from the steering column.
- To install, tighten the new bolt to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
- 7.WARNING: Do not reuse steering column nuts. This may result in fastener failure and steering column detachment or loss of steering control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).
Remove the steering column nuts.
- To install, tighten the new nuts to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
